Vice President of Public Policy for Africa, Middle East and Turkey, Meta
Kojo Boakye is Meta’s Vice President of Public Policy for Africa, Middle East and Turkey. He’s an
experienced ICT for Development Practitioner, with 19 years experience working with governments, fixed-line and mobile operators, development partners, online service providers, content creators and civil society organisations. Before joining Meta more than 6 years ago, he was the Deputy Director of the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI), and the Head Research and Consultancy at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) prior to that.
In addition to an MSc in Development Studies, Kojo holds a BA in African History and Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. History and development of Africa, the Middle East and Turkey remain keen areas of interest and guide his work. In recent years, his work has focused on broadband affordability; the use of mobile infrastructure and devices for the delivery of social services; strategic planning for ICT regulators; tech regulation of content, privacy and competition; and the evolution of the Metaverse.
Kojo continues to be passionate about creating opportunities for youth across Africa, the Middle East and Turkey. Among other things, he sits on the board for Junior Achievement Africa and Chairs its Digital Innovation Committee
